What is Daichi no saisei?
Daichi no Saisei is an approach to ecological regeneration developed by Tomonori Yano, born from years of closely observing and working with nature.
At its heart is learning to follow nature, not force it. How is the wind moving? Where does water pause, and where is it trying to go? What's happening beneath the soil? What signs are the plants and other living things showing us?
We observe a place closely, reading its rhythm, and step in only where the flow has stalled, and only as much as it needs.
By reconnecting to the pathways of air and water already present in the soil, we help the land's own cycles come back to life, so plants and creatures can thrive again.
Some of the practical ways this is done: opening pathways for air and water to move through the soil, digging small vertical holes so air and water can move up and down (Ten-ana), and mowing grass or pruning trees in the direction the wind already moves (Kaze no Kusakari, Kaze no Sentei).
Daichi no Saisei isn't about reshaping nature to our will. It's about stepping in — just enough, just where it's needed — so nature's own strength can begin working again.
Small steps modeled on nature's own design awaken the land's original cycle.
